I’m sure there are a lot of rules and a lot of proven methods for how to succeed as an entrepreneur, but every journey is unique. You are one-of-a-kind. Your business should reflect your values and the lifestyle you intend to lead. If not, progress will be incredibly challenging.
I’ve never believed in blindly obeying the rules. You are the one who must bear responsibility for the results of your actions, so you should choose wisely what works best for you. I’m sure your intuition will always guide you down the right path.
Looking back at my experience of more than 17 years as an entrepreneur, here is what I learned:
1. Don’t share your vision with others right away.
Not everyone will see your vision, and unless you can build something tangible out of it, people will be hesitant to believe it. If you discuss it with the wrong person, they will most likely convince you that it will not work.
2. Learn how to fail.
Making mistakes is part of the process, and learning how to deal with failure is the first step toward success.
3. Tie your success to a bigger purpose.
If you want to be able to move forward when things are challenging, it is best to connect your dream to a larger goal, something you truly want to see changed in the world or in your own life. This will be your driving force.
4. Once you’ve delegated something, always verify.
Make it a mission to learn as many processes as you possibly can. Even if you intend to hire a significant number of people, it is critical to understand as many processes as possible. Because of this, you will be able to delegate tasks more effectively and also check to see if they were done.
5. Trust your intuition.
I am aware that there are a lot of guidelines and a lot of proven methods, but each journey is unique. You are unique. Your business should be designed according to your values and the life you wish to have. Otherwise, it will be very hard for you to move forward. Find your own recipe for success. Always trust your gut instinct. You are the one who must bear responsibility for the results of your actions.
6. Keep it simple and try to be flexible.
You may start with what you have and improve your business and yourself gradually. It is not necessary to be perfect in order to be successful. Do your best and be open to the idea that being an entrepreneur means you have to be flexible and adapt to changes in the outside world.
7. Never underestimate the value of education.
Growing your business requires growing as a person. You will not be able to see new opportunities for growth unless you are prepared to improve yourself. Learning should be something you do all the time, just like figuring out what to do and what not to do based on your values and idea of success.
